DESCRIPTION OF CLASSES:

Anuttara Vinyasa   "A"
Anuttara Yoga means " The Supreme Yoga ".   Vinyasa means "To Place in a Special Way".
Here we flow through the agency of the Sun Salutations. This Hatha (Forceful) form of practice is rigorous and suitable for the intermediate to advanced student.
In this class the student will be guided through the Seven Sequences in a precise but creative flow based on the energy in the room. Not suitable for beginners.

Anuttara Vinyasa Krama  "A & B"
Similar to the above except that we flow from pose to counter-pose into repose but not necessarily through the medium of Sun Salutations. This requires a skilled teacher as the flow is choreographed to effect a specific psycho-physical result. All levels welcome. Intermediate.

Anuttara Yoga "B"
This is a gentle flow that takes the student from a simple pose to counter-pose into repose without the rigorous medium of sun salutations. All levels welcome. Perfect for beginners.

Anuttara Raja Yoga (Yin Yoga)  "A & B"
This is the opposite of Hatha or forceful yoga. Here, we bypass muscle and get into connective tissue. We hold the pose for up to 5 minutes and the student is guided verbally into a deep meditative state. The focus is on the Mind-Body and the primary text is the classical Yoga Sutra by Patanjali.

This is Kriya Yoga in its truest sense as there is Heat-Discipline, Study-Introspection and Surrender to breathe and gravity. Sometimes referred to as Yin Yoga as it has the same deeply restorative result, but it flows from pose to counter-pose to repose and is more Intellectual-Spiritual in its narrative.  All levels welcome. Perfect for beginners.

Yang is 'Forceful, muscular or Hatha" . Yin is passive, soft or Raja.

"A" is Advanced. Appropriate to a practitioner who has mastered the basic Sun Salutation sequences.

"B" is Beginner, one who is relatively new to the practice or for one who prefers a more restorative practice.

"A & B" is Advanced and Beginner. This is an All Levels class where there is instruction and modifications to please all participants.
