Yoga, Vrittis and Dune

One thing noticeably different from a class these days and the classes we had weeks ago is the consistent interaction and involvement of all students.

Let us talk about the Fascia

As much as I personally enjoy a little bit of free-time, it feels so good to be back in the library of the Anuttara Yoga Shala. After completing the reading of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, our gracious teacher Yogacharya Philip allowed us a week off from class to reflect and review all the intense detail in the volumes of texts we had been studying over the past several weeks....

The Vrittis

Hatha Yoga leads to Raja Yoga

When we first met here on the Anuttara Yoga Shala blog I started by saying how my very first day as part of Anuttara Hatha Yoga Teacher Training was set to be an experience that would definitively transform the rest of my life, and over a few months I shared with anyone willing to read how inexplicably true that was. From sitting in a room cluttered with strangers to becoming part of an amazing and ever-expanding family of yogis I did my utmost to document and describe some of the lessons we learned and the moments we shared on that initial journey, however this adventure into the sacred science and divine truths of yoga has only just begun....

Anuttara Hatha Yoga Teacher Training: Ocala Weekend Retreat

To say this weekend has been one of the most exclusively moving and introspective experiences of my journey into the practice of Anuttara Hatha Yoga Teacher Training would be an understatement. It was without question a few dozen hours that have impacted not just what I know about my practice and the awesome people I have been blessed to train so assiduously with, but also the way I feel when I think of my relationship to my own practice....
